Change your mind, Change your game
According to Vision54's book 'Every Shot Must Have a Purpose', we need to use their formula to be a better player, to shoot lower scores and to enjoy our challenges more. The formula is P+T+M+E+S where P is physical, T is technical, M is mental, E is emotional and S is social. Traditional golf lessons only focuses on the technical aspects such as the swing, grip, stance, fundamentals, ball and club fitting. Fitness coaches only focuses their attention to your physical such as strength, agility, posture and warm-up. Vision54 thinks that everything comes into play when you play a round of golf. We know that when we step up on tee and face a water hazard between us and the pin. Suddenly, the mental game comes into play. If we worry too much, we tense up and we hit a lousy shot. If we don't think of the water, we hit a perfect shot and the ball flies to the hole. Next time you practice, try to work on the areas in the formula other than the technical or the physical.
don't throw your clubs in the lake: 4 things you can do now to improve your game
Golf can be frustrating when your swing goes haywire or your ball stops listening to you. We all have experienced this so you are not alone. The key is to get back at it and try again. If you don't succeed the first time, do it again until you do. Golf is a game of repetition and the more you do it, the better you will get. I know that sounds easier to say than to do but with the right frame of mind, you can get back on the saddle on ride into the sunset. Here's 5 things that will help:
1. Stop analyzing your swing.
The worst thing you can do when you are playing a round is to analyze your swing. Don't start breaking your swing down or analyzing where your hands are in relation to the swing path. These are NOT the right thoughts to have when you are playing a round. Save these thoughts for the driving range when you are trying to improve your swing. On the course, it is important for you to trust yourself. Think confidence and strategize on how to reach the green with less strokes.

2. Put good thoughts in your head.
Remember when you hit the sweet spot and the ball sailed to where you wanted? Or when your ball landed softly next to the pin? These are the kind of thoughts you want in your head when you set up to hit the ball. Good thoughts will enable you to do your best. Just relax and trust your body. It knows how to execute a good shot.

3. Leave all your life's worries behind.
When you start your round, try to leave your life's worries behind. Don't take it with you. Whatever it is, it can wait 4-5 hours. When you finish your round, you will be refreshed and be in a better state to tackle life's worries. Thinking about it during your round will only hamper your performance and ability to do your best. Why let it ruin a perfect day?

4. Take all distractions out of your mind.
Golf is a game best played with a clear mind. Try to remove all distractions from your mind. Spray on bug repellent or lather on the sun lotion before you tee off. Fill the water bottle with ice cold water, buy some energy bars and have food in your bag, check the forecast for rain and be sure you have rain gear in your bag. Be prepared for the 4-5 hours ahead and you will enjoy your round more.

We all have heard the phrase 'Don't get mad, get even'. In golf, this phrase applies to us when we lose our focus and we don't execute our shot properly. Instead of getting mad at yourself for failing, try to get even with the 'golf gods'. Show them that you can clear your mind and get back to a better state. Sometimes, the 'golf gods' are disruptive and they want to cause havoc in your game. You can get mad at them by punching your ball back to the fairways. In no time, your game will be back and the 'golf gods' will be in your favor.
online classes for golf
Some of us are hard learners. I prefer online classes or videos than written instructions, especially when I'm learning something about golf. If you are like me, you need something visual so that you can follow along as if you were right there. Another thing about watching a video is that you can watch it over and over again.
