Places to Play
When in Calgary, be sure to stay and play at Silverwing Links by the Calgary International Airport. There are a number of hotels serving the area including the Marriott, Radisson, Greenwood and more.
Test your Course Management Skills
At Silverwing, there are 27-holes of golf spread over three nines named MayFly, FireFly and DragonFly.
The course is a true links course. From the road, the golf course looks flat and wide open. But don't let the layout fool you. There are enough challenges here to test you. Bunkers, water and long fescue will gobble up your errant shots. And if that's not enough distractions, try jumbo jets and 737's taking off and landing at the airport.

There is an uncovered driving range at Silverwing where you can warm up or practice hitting your clubs. Range balls must be purchased from the pro shop because the ball machine only accepts codes. The driving range lets you hit everything in your bag including your driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons. And the best thing is, you get to hit balls off the ground instead of from mats.
The restaurant and bar at Silverwing gets 4/5 stars. The average price of a meal is about $10.50 and the quality is excellent. I tried the Sweet Chili Chicken Wrap and it was delicious. You get a generous portion of fries or if you prefer, you can get a substitute salad for the same price.
