Dress Good and Look Good
We all know that golf is played 90% above the shoulders. If you look good then you feel good. And the more confidence you will have. Looking good on a golf course means that you should dress the part. For men, collar shirts and a pair of slacks or if it's hot out there, a pair of shorts that is at least knee high. Collared shirts are usually golf polos, either in long sleeve or short sleeve.
Does Golf Shoes need Spikes?
I've seen a lot of guys play golf with their hiking boots or in their Sunday shoes and that's why people ask whether you need golf shoes with spikes or not? In my opinion, I think it depends on the conditions that you are playing in. If the grass is wet or moist then yes, golf shoes with spikes are required. If the grass is dry and almost slippery then yes, golf shoes with spikes are also required.
Golf shoes with spikes were invented to give the golfer, more gripping power. It is important to have a solid foundation when you swing your club. Without a solid base, you won't be able to hit the ball precisely. Tom knows that because he is a big guy. When he swings his club, he generates a 120 mph swing speed and without a solid foundation, his swing speed would be wasted. When he makes contact with the ball, it flies to 320 yards and more.
Latest Trend: Spike-less Shoes
One thing I've noticed on shelves is the amount of spike-less golf shoes. From Adidas to FootJoy, Ecco to Ashworth, every shoe seems to have permanent cleats.
Personally, I like them. I used to change my own spikes but after grinding them down to almost nothing, they become impossible to replace. After 2-3 seasons and walking 100+ rounds, the shoe portion becomes to wear. The canvas uppers begin to crack and it begins to leak. You might as well wear the street shoes to play.
In a few months, I can see less and less spikes on the market. I'm beginning to see the Black Widow spikes in clearance bins already so the end is near. Either go to RockBottom and buy up all the spikes or just give in and buy yourself a new spike-less shoe. And it'll give you another chance to shop for new golf equipment too.
Nike Lunar Ascend - Cool and Comfortable
When you're playing in the heat, you'll thank me for recommending this shoe because it's going to keep your feet cool. It'll be the most comfortable shoe you've ever owned and you'll never want to go back to those rigid shoes again. The only downside to this shoe is that it will not keep your feet dry if you walked through a puddle or snow.
That's why I recommend it for hot summer days or desert locations.
Bargain Shoes on Sale
With everybody flocking to the new spike-less shoes, you can expect to find some great clearance prices on golf shoes with permanent cleats. You might be able to find them clearing for the same price as a box of Black Widow spikes, or maybe $20 more.
