Where to play? in Canada
Blooming Golf Season
Golf season is in full bloom in Canada and we are excited to bringing you golf reviews from Alberta to British Columbia. Check back with us often as we get on the road and play courses from Calgary to Vancouver.
Island Tee Box
After watching the Player's Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, I was drawn to playing a course with an island green. But when I stepped onto #15 tee at Apple Creek Golf Course in Airdrie, I was surprised to find that it was the tee box on the island instead of the green.
From the white tees, it was only 135 yards away but I found it to be more like 145 yards.
For only $45, you can play a round in the weekend at Apple Creek.
Challenging Links Style Course
When you are looking for a course that will challenge your skills, try a links style course. Canals at Delacour is a great course to test those skills that you have practiced over and over again at the range. Links style courses are designed by moving as little dirt as possible. The course goes around the natural terrain and has more rough between holes than non-links styled courses.
Rates for 18 holes, Monday to Wednesday is only $45. Seniors 60 and over gets 10% off the rate.
To get there: Drive east on Country Hills Blvd. in Calgary, AB for about 20 minutes. Golf course will be on your right.
Best Deal in the West
If you're a fan of Ron Ehlert's designs then you will like playing Boulder Creek Golf Course in Langdon. Other courses that Ron had designed include Elbow Springs, Lakeside in Chestermere and Silverwing. Fairways are generous but a lack of trees cause golfers to stress a little because houses are in sight on a few fairways.
Senior (55+) MONDAYS (excluding holidays): Play 18 holes for just $28 + gst and walk the course. Breakfast sandwich and coffee for only $6.99.
Tonnie Tuesdays: Pay just $2 per hole or $2 for bucket of balls or $2 menu items.
Frenzy Wednesday: Play 18 holes for only $43 and get a free cart and small bucket of balls.
Twilight Thursday: Pay just $29 for 18 holes all day long.
